What is a Field Office?
Each Field Office, headed by a Field Director, has a specified service area that may include part of a state or territory, an entire state, or many states. Field Offices are where most immigration field staff are located. Field Offices are responsible for enforcing immigration laws in that jurisdiction. Certain applications are filed directly with Field Offices, many kinds of interviews are conducted at these Offices, and immigration staff are available to answer questions, provide forms, etc.
What is a Satellite Office?
Some Immigration Distict Offices also have Satellite Offices that serve a portion of the Distict's jurisdiction. A Satellite Office, headed by a Satellite Office Director, provides many services and enforcement functions. Their locations are determined, in part, to increase convenience to our customers.
